Felicity Jones Confirms She’s A Villain In “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”

Felicity Jones to play Menace?

With Felicity Jones previously confirmed to be playing an unknown role in Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, many people, including this Nerf Herder right here, predicted that she would be playing Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat. Well, Jones has gone on record as saying she is indeed playing a villain in Webb’s Spidey sequel, although it appears that it won’t be Felicia Hardy.

Asked by ViewLondon about her role in the film, Jones said, “It’s all quite shrouded in secrecy, but I’m the Goblin’s girlfriend – I’m in a relationship with him, and his accomplice. I’m on the dark side.”

That most definitely throws a spanner into the Black Cat works. Firstly, neither Harry or Norman Osborn have ever dated Felicia Hardy in the comic books. Secondly, the Goblin’s girlfriend? Surely, if we are to get any Goblins’ down the line – we most definitely will – then Norman Osborn will be first in line to jump on the glider. That wouldn’t really make sense, unless Jones plays some young eye candy for him… but then, Norman never really had any female love interests of that age.

The most likely scenario seems to point to Jones playing Lily Hollister. Lily is a comic book character that dated Harry Osborn and also ended up with her own super powers after becoming infected by Goblin serum. She would then go on to be known as the supervillain Menace. Still, the talk of Goblin’s girlfriend seems to throw a little bit of logic out of the window.

Either way, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is released on 2nd May, 2014, and I expect that things will all become a lot clearer before then.
