The guys over at ShortList have brought some fantastic artwork to my attention. In case you’re not aware, Steven Spielberg’s Jaws is one of my favourite films of all time. And that’s despite giving me a massive fear/morbid fascination of/with sharks, so much so that I’m even wary of the beasts when I’m flying (by airplane, of course – not quite mastered that superpower just yet). So, the news of a Jaws-themed art display has me nearly wetting myself with excitement, not to mention a little fear.
Brilliantly titled Smile You Son Of A Bitch, the show opened yesterday and is only running until Sunday. The venue is the Hero Complex Gallery in Los Angeles. Seriously, if you’re in the area or can get to the area, get your ass along to check out the goodness. There’s apparently over a hundred different artworks on show, all based around Spielberg’s 1975 classic. Also, it’s for a good cause, with all proceeds going to PangeaSeed, who raise awareness for the preservation and conservation of sharks. Here’s a choice few of the selections on show.
They’re all brilliant and unique, but my personal favourite would have to the the one with Chief Brody having the sharks reflection in his glasses, although the Quint comic book, and the nicely, calming blue Jaws one are close behind.
As mentioned, the show is being housed at the Hero Complex Gallery, which is at 2020 South Robertson Boulevard, Studio D, Los Angeles, California. The display is open from 6pm to 10pm on the aforementioned days.
