Returning as Lady Sif in Thor: The Dark World, Jaimie Alexander has been talking to Forbes about whether we’ll get to see Thor 3. Also discussed, we get chatter about the growing demand for a Sif solo film and the rumours of her playing Wonder Woman are addressed.
When asked about Thor: The Dark World and a possible Thor 3, Alexander said, “I hope they [the audience] enjoy the movie as much as we did making it, and I can only pray for strong numbers, because when there are strong numbers there’s going to be a third one.”
Much like Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, there’s been calls from some quarters for a Sif spin-off movie. Addressing these calls, the actress said, “I would love for there to be a spin-off film. I would absolutely say ‘yes!’ If the fans want it, and there’s a strong enough desire for it, it will happen. So, fingers crossed.”
With Batman set to return to the big screen in the Man of Steel sequel, it appears that Warner Bros are finally looking to construct a DC cinematic world similar to what Disney and Marvel have created. Central to any future plans is the character of Wonder Woman, a role that Alexander has been suggested for on numerous occasions. Responding to these rumours, Alexander surprisingly confirmed that she is “having discussions with both companies,” referring to Disney/Marvel and Warner Brothers/DC. Asked about any interest in Wonder Woman, she said, “I’m a huge fan of Wonder Woman. I really think, if this [Lady Sif] is the closest that we’re ever going to get to Wonder Woman, then I’m proud to play Sif. I hope that other comic book entities can learn a lesson from Marvel in how to execute a female character the way it should be done. I really would like to one day see a Wonder Woman film or Wonder Woman character, but until it’s done with class, I’d rather it not be done.”
On related Wonder Woman news, there has been some talk that the character may even appear as soon as the Man of Steel sequel, and Alexander revealed that she “kind of knows the storyline for that movie.” Is it merely a case of her knowing that Batman is going up against Superman, or is there more to it?
