Attending the world premiere of Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn had a word with CraveOnline about his upcoming Marvel space opera.
Gunn said, “Thanos is a character in our movie. He works with Ronan. In my movie Ronan works for Thanos, and Ronan is the main bad guy in our film.”
The director added, “We have a prison set that is 350,000 pounds of steel. Our sets are enormous. Anybody who knows me knows I really love the mix of practical and CGI effects and I carried that over into this movie. We have tons and tons of practical effects. I can’t wait for people to see it because it’s astoundingly beautiful.
In Marvel’s space opera, we have Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Vin Diesel doing motion capture and voice work for Groot, and Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket Raccoon. Making up the cast of Gunn’s film are the likes of Michael Rooker, Benicio del Toro, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Gregg Henry and Glenn Close.
Guardians of the Galaxy is set for a 1st August, 2014 release.
