“Thor: The Dark World” Still Taking Big Numbers

Whilst Thor: The Dark World dominated the US box office upon release last week, the film has still held strong this week. With Malcolm Lee’s The Best Man Holiday did strong numbers upon its release last week, it still didn’t do enough to knock Thor: The Dark World from its throne.

The Thor sequel took $38.4 million – a drop of 55% from last week’s numbers – which has brought its domestic US figures to $146 million, which is already 81% of the total gross for 2009’s Thor. This is all despite Thor: The Dark World having only been on release for merely 10 days in the US market.

In terms of international figures, the Thunder God sequel has added another $52.5 million, bringing its international gross to $333 million.

Collectively, the global gross figures stand at an impressive $480 million, which has already passed the global gross of the original Thor.
