And there was me thinking that Sleepaway Camp getting a remake was odd, but this is equally as odd if you ask me. Yes, The Wrap is reporting that the Patrick Swayze-starring Road House is getting a remake. Considering this is the first I’ve heard of this, things seem to be quite advanced, with Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious, xXx) to direct from a script by Michael Stoker.
The 1989 original featured Patrick Swayze as a mysterious bouncer hired to clean up a dirty Missouri bar. Helping him with this, Road House also featured the moustachioed Sam Elliot, not to mention Kelly Lynch. The film would also go on to get a pretty awful sequel.
Despite not being one of Swayze’s biggest hits – it only grossed $30 million – Road House garnered a cult following for its action sequences. It would also later appeal to a new generation of fans after being referenced in Family Guy.
Expect more on this as it develops.
