Low Budget Movies Expected For Some Of DC’s Smaller Characters

Could we see the Suicide Squad?

Could we see the Suicide Squad?

Tres interesting…

BleedingCool is reporting that DC and Warner Brothers are planning to bring some of DC’s lesser known characters to the big screen with some relatively low budget affairs.

The report claims, “with David Goyer attached, Warners were looking at movie treatments for the likes of Suicide Squad, Booster Gold, Deathstroke, Team 7 and more. Suicide Squad is one specifically mentioned as only needing a $40 million budget, pre-marketing. Some could be made for as little as $20 million.”

It’s also claimed that the current DC/WB plan of attack is to release two movies a year; on one in the spring and one in the winter. These would all tie into the world that this year’s Man of Steel created.

  1. This sounds great! Budget is a minor as long as people put some care into the film, look at the first Blade movie and the first Red film. Plus as the characters they use may be relatively unknown, that will be an added benefit as people wont immediately think it’s just another comic book film. Just like like a lot people didn’t know Blade and Red were (well I didn’t know anyway)
