New X-Men Film Announced!

Apocalypse_RIDERS

Ouch! Didn’t see this one coming. Some seriously seriously big news here.

With X-Men: Days of Future Past set to be released next year and with an apparent third solo Wolverine in the works, Bryan Singer has randomly announced another X-Men film. Completely out of the blue, Singer has announced X-Men: Apocalypse as heing released on 27th March, 2016.

All logical guesses would point towards that film featuring the huuuuuuuuge X-Men villain, Apocalypse. That character was first featured back in X-Factor #6 as, essentially, the planet’s first ever mutant. He would go on to get power-mad and would created technology that would keep his stranglehold on mankind. Apocalypse is best known for the massive The Age of Apocalypse storyline in the X-Men books, which saw the premature death of Professor X. At the time, this book was ridiculously successful.

Before all of that, we’ve got X-Men: Days of Future Past released on 23rd May, 2014.

Consider me genuinely dumbfounded by this announcement. I’m in shock…

  1. It would be about time they did a true X-Men storyline. I loved First Class as an origin tale. In my opinion, that is the closest they’ve come yet to capturing the X-Men feeling on screen. As far as the other X-Men movies, they were never quite as awesome as they should have been. I have high hopes for Days of Future Past, though. Awful lot of characters for one movie and that concerns me a bit.

  2. APOCALYPSE!
That was like the greatest thing about X-Men… When the Last Stand was announced, I was hoping it would feature the Apocalypse Saga but I guess all was not dead… We might finally see this.
