Following on from yesterday’s news of Joaquin Phoenix being in talks for a large role, presumed to be Lex Luthor, in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel, The Hollywood Reporter has word that Academy Award winning screenwriter Chris Terrio has been added to the project to carry out rewrites on David Goyer’s screenplay. Terrio is best known for his work on the fantastic Argo. The superhero sequel is to go into production early next year, with a 2015 release planned.
In terms of the actual plot of the film, it’s presumed that a grizzled, older Batman will look to seek out and take down the ‘alien’ threat called Superman that appeared in Man of Steel. Of course, an alliance will be formed throughout the film, will the ‘World’s Finest’ having to team up to defeat a greater threat.
Henry Cavill will be returning as Superman, Ben Affleck is playing Batman, and Wonder Woman has been cast to play a part in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel follow-up – Gal Gadot has landed that particular role. It’s also been confirmed that Amy Adams will return as Lois Lane, whilst Jason Momoa is in talks for an unknown role, rumoured to be either Doomsday or the Martian Manhunter.
At present, the Man of Steel sequel is scheduled for a 17th July, 2015 release.
