Now that X-Men: Apocalypse is out on front-street, Bryan Singer has taken to Twitter to tease the return of a certain X2 team. No, we’re not talking any particular group of mutants: we’re talking the X2 screenwriters.
Singer sent out the following picture:
Accompanying the picture, there was the caption – “Late night X-Men Apocalypse story session. It’s snowing in Egypt!”
Included in the shot, as well as Singer and X-Men: Days of Future Past‘s Simon Kinberg we also get to see Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris. Dougherty and Harris worked on the stunning X2 film back in the day – the film that is the best in the X-series. Could it be that the X2 pair are back for Apocalypse? Let’s hope so.
It’s also worth noting the ‘Egypt’ line, as the character of Apocalypse, also known as En Sabah Nur, was actually born in Egypt in his original origin story. The character’s most famous arc – one of the X-world’s most famous arcs – is The Age of Apocalypse. Starting in 1995, this story saw an alternative timeline where Charles Xavier was killed before he had the chance to form the X-Men. As a result, Magneto led a group of ‘X-Men’ in an apocalyptic world.
At present, X-Men: Apocalypse is set for a 27th May, 2016 release. Before that, though, we’ve got X-Men: Days of Future Past on 23rd May, 2014.
