Several new images have surfaced for Jose Padilha’s upcoming RoboCop remake. Initially, I was massively against this film but, quite honestly, the trailer blew me away. Since then, in the last week or so, I’ve had the chance to chat with several of the guys involved in the relaunch, including Padilha, and I’m genuinely looking forward to it. I never, ever, ever thought I’d say that.
The synopsis of the film is as follows:
The year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
As well as Kinnaman, the film also features Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Abbie Cornish, and Samuel L. Jackson.
RoboCop is set for a 12th February, 2014 release.
