Denzel Washington To Play WB’s Cinematic Green Lantern?

There was a brief rumour a few weeks ago that Warner Brothers were looking at several black actors for the role of Lex Luthor in their upcoming Man of Steel sequel. One name that was mentioned at that time was Denzel Washington. Well, a rumour coming from Nuke The Fridge claims that Washington is actually being looked at for t he role of John Stewart, aka Green Lantern.

That’s about all that’s out there right now, and it goes without saying to treat this as purely rumour at this point… and a massively unlikely one at that, if you ask me. Yes, Denzel is a fantastic actor and he looks great, but could the WB really cast a 59-year-old as one of their leading superheroes? We’ve already heard plenty of speculation that we’ll get Green Lantern at some point in the future, be it Batman vs Superman or a later Justice League movie.

Expect to hear more on this as it develops.

At present, Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel is scheduled for a 17th July, 2015 release.

  1. Gotta agree with MINDOFOLIVE on this one. Not too sure about this, either. I think the Man of Steel sequel is a bit cramped already. Gee, what gives with WB and their superhero movies? Ugh.

  2. Not sure about Denzel, they’ve already got an old batman, are they trying to make a Justice League of pensioners or something? Man of Steel 2 maybe shouldn’t have even had Batman in it , Sman had at least another solo movie left in him.
