With Alan Taylor directing, Emilia Clarke signed on as Sarah Connor and Jason Clarke seemingly John Connor, it seems as if Kyle Reese will be the next character cast in Paramount Pictures Terminator reboot, tentatively titled Terminator: Genesis. Previous reports had Tron: Legacy‘s Garrett Hedlund as the front-runner for the part made famous by Michael Biehn in 1984’s The Terminator. Variety is claiming that there are five other names now in the frame to play the character last seen played by Anton Yelchin in the horrible Terminator: Salvation.
Treat this as purely speculation for now – although Variety are usually pretty accurate with their scoops – but the five names in question are Wilson Bethel (Hart of Dixie), Thomas Cocquerel (Anzac Girl), Boyd Holbrook (Milk), Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard) and Sam Reid (Anonymous). It’s presumed that Hedlund is also still a possibility to land the gig.
As for other roles in the film, Arnold Schwarzenegger is to return, although his role is sketchy right now. Some reports claim that he will merely be reprising his cybernetic role, whilst others say he will play an actual man; the man that the design of the T-800 is based on.
Alan Taylor’s Terminator is currently scheduled for a 1st July, 2015 release.
