To follow on from the news that Jesse Plemons is in talks to play the son of Luke Skywalker in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII, The Hollywood Reporter now has word on some other names that may be about to join the galaxy far, far away.
The story goes, the film is looking for a military officer type, with both Michael Fassbender and Adam Driver – who was recently linked to the Dick Grayson role in Batman vs Superman – said to be strong possibilities for that particular role. It’s also claimed that Hugo Weaving is another name being circled for the film. It goes without saying, this is all just rumours for now, and seemingly every name in Hollywood has been linked to Star Wars over the last few months.
As well as this casting ‘news,’ we also have an update on the plot of Episode VII. With screenwriter Michael Arndt having left the project, it’s said that there’s been a change in focus of the upcoming film. Previously it was claimed that Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia would play supporting roles to a younger cast. Now, with Lawrence Kasdan working with Abrams on the screenplay, it’s said that the film will very much focus on Luke, Han and Leia… which is far cooler with me. It’s now claimed that Episode VII will act as a send-off of sorts for the much-loved characters.
Star Wars: Episode VII is set for a 18th December, 2015 release.
