TV Guide is reporting that Bill Paxton has signed on for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC. The Twister and Aliens star is to play Agent John Garrett in a four-episode arc commencing towards the end of February. ‘The Guide’ also has the first picture (right) of Paxton as Agent Garrett.
Discussing the addition, executive producer Jed Whedon said, “We wanted to bring in a rough-and-tumble former cohort of Agent Coulson with a little bit of attitude and cigar-smoking swagger.”
Fellow executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen added that Garrett “comes into the fold in a very surprising way,” and that “he is the type who wants to stay out in the field no matter how high-level he gets.”
In the comic book world, the character of John Garrett is turned into a cyborg by S.H.I.E.L.D. in order to save him from life-threatening injuries. Despite being quite the high-up in the S.H.I.E.L.D. world, Agent Garrett still tries to get himself out into the action as much as he can. It’ll be interesting to see this TV version of the character plays out, although the above picture indicates that he’ll get to see his fair share of action during his four-episode stint.
