With yesterday’s surprise news that Michael Douglas was joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play Hank Pym in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man, the veteran actor has been speaking to Reuters about why he signed on for the gig.
The legendary cunning-linguist said, “I’ve been dying to do a Marvel picture for so long. The script is really fun, the director is really good. Dylan [Douglas’ 13-year-old son] will love it. He’ll have a picture he can see.”
Douglas says that his aim is to surprise people, added, “Sometimes – like when they didn’t see you for Liberace – you’ve got to shake them up a little bit and have some fun.”
Knowing Douglas and his ways, his idea of having some fun is likely to impregnate Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow if they ever cross paths in the MCU.
Ant-Man is set to kick off Marvel’s Phase Three of films on 31st July, 2015.
