With Ant-Man news going a bit crazy over the last few days, there’s now some big news for Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Remember a few months ago when it was claimed that the movie was looking to cast Baron Von Strucker? Well The Hollywood Reporter is now running a story to say that Von Strucker role has been cast and that Dracula‘s Thomas Kretschmann has landed the gig. It was initially reported that Marton Csokas and Dougray Scott were up for the role, but clearly not.
Von Strucker made his first appearance way back in 1964′s Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos. He’s essentially an indestructible Nazi, having incredibly powerful healing abilities that stop him from ageing and also can regenerate him if he does get killed off. In Age of Ultron, the character will be one of two villains, with James Spader’s maniacal robotic Ultron the main ‘big bad’ of the piece.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is currently scheduled for a 1st May, 2015 release.
