As a huge fan of 1968’s Jane Fonda-starring Barbarella, this is definitely some interesting news. Deadline is reporting that Amazon Studios is currently looking to develop a Barbarella TV series.
The Barbarella character first appeared in a French graphic magazine back in 1962, written and illustrated by Jean-Claude Forest. Her sci-fi adventures were then adapted into the ’68 movie by Roger Vadim, the then-husband of Fonda.
It’s said that the current pilot that is in the works is being written by Skyfall‘s Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. Nicolas Winding Refn, director of Drive and Only God Forgives, is to serve as an executive producer. He was previously attached to the long-discussed feature film redo of the property.
Expect more on this as it becomes available.
