Evangeline Lilly up for “Ant-Man”

Could Evangeline Lilly play Wasp?

With Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man now having Michael Douglas on board as Hank Pym and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, we’re not getting some rumours on the female lead. Variety is reporting that Evangeline Lilly is in talks for the main female gig. Lilly is best known for her work in LOST and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Just what the aforementioned female lead role in Ant-Man is going to be, that’s the big question. There’s been talk that the main female role will either be a love interest for Scott Lang or the daughter of Hank Pym… or possibly even both. Then there’s the chatter of the role possibly being Janet Van Dyne, aka the Wasp. That seems unlikely, given the timeline of Hank Pym’s journey.

Regardless, Ant-Man is set to kick things off for Marvel’s Phase Three of films on 17th July, 2015.

    • Indeed that is from the Ultimates.

Janet is a tricky one. Once they’d decided to go with Scott Lang as the main focus of the Ant-Man character going forward, it’s hard to really incorporate Janet that much… which is a massive shame. They can always go back and retell Hank stories, with Janet included, and it’s been confirmed that we’ll see a young Hank Pym in a prelude of sorts at the beginning of Edgar Wright’s flick.
