Paul Bettany has been responsible for voicing Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S. system in the three Iron Man movies and Avengers Assemble. A few months ago there were some rumours that the British actor may end up playing the villainous Ultron in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron . Those turned out to be purely speculation as James Spader ended up with that gig. Fear not, Bettany fans, for the actor has now been confirmed by Variety to play the long-time android member of the Avengers team, The Vision.
Given Bettany’s involvement as J.A.R.V.I.S., it would seem logical to presume that Stark’s creation may very well evolve into a fully-fledged android, although that’s merely my presumption. As for The Vision, the character debuted way back in 1968’s The Avengers #57. It’s also worth noting that he’s actually gotten married to the Scarlet Witch at one point. Of course, the Scarlet Witch, not to mention brother Quicksilver, is also appearing in Whedon’s Avengers Assemble sequel. Scarlet Witch will be played by Elizabeth Olsen whilst Aaron Taylor-Johnson is playing Quicksilver.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is currently scheduled for a 1st May, 2015 release.
