Deadline has word that Millennium Films’ all-female version of The Expendables, currently dubbed The ExpendaBelles, has found itself a director. Killers and 21 director Robert Luketic is the man who’s been handed the gig. Luketic has previously worked with Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, who worked on the screenplay for this tale of females kicking ass.
The official synopsis on the film reads:
“When America’s Navy SEALs are wiped out trying to penetrate the island lair of a deadly despot who has captured one of the world’s top nuclear scientists, it becomes clear that there is no such thing as the right man for the job and that this is a mission so impossible that only women can handle it. The only way in: some of the world’s deadliest female operatives must pose as high-class call-girls shipped in by private plane to satisfy a dictator – and instead save the scientist and the day.”
No official casting announcements have been made just yet, although a plethora of names, such as Zoe Bell, Cameron Diaz, Milla Jovovich and Meryl Streep, have all been linked to the project.
Expect more on this as it becomes available.
