Video: “Guardians of the Galaxy” Trailer Has Arrived

Finally, here is the first full trailer for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. And it looks as awesome as I’d hoped.

The official synopsis for the film reads:

Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan (Lee Pace), a powerful villain with ambitious that threatens the entire universe.

To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket (Bradley Cooper), a gun-toting raccoon, Groot (Vin Diesel), a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista).

But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

In Marvel’s space opera, we have Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Vin Diesel doing motion-capture and voice work for Groot, and Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket Raccoon. Making up the cast of Gunn’s film are the likes of Michael Rooker, Benicio del Toro, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Gregg Henry and Glenn Close.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for the trailer.

Guardians of the Galaxy is set for a 1st August, 2014 release.

  1. Kinda weird trailer if you ask me. I feel like it was aimed entirely at folks who know nothing about the comic. I get that. You need more than just the nerds buying a ticket. Hopefully the next trailer or two will give more storyline hints rather than character introductions.

    • Yeah, it’s a rock and a hard place. Even a lot of comic book fans aren’t all that familiar with the Guardians team, so it’s a bit of a juggling act. I really dug the trailer but, yeah, plot points would be nice next time 🙂
