With Alan Taylor’s Teminator: Genesis moving forward, the film has added J.K. Simmons to its cast. Simmons is likely best-known to most audiences for playing J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man series, although he has appeared in a whole host of films over the years.
All that is known on Simmons role in this latest Terminator film is that he will be playing a “weary and alcoholic detective who has followed a bizarre case involving Sarah Connor and robots for more than three decades.” In fact, The Hollywood Reporter has word that Simmons’ character has been tracking Sarah Connor since 1984, which just so happens to be the year that James Cameron’s The Terminator was released.
Simmons join a cast that includes Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Zero Dark Thirty‘s Jason Clarke as John Connor and A Good to Die Hard‘s Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also to return in some capacity.
