Giving how Marc Webb is to direct The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and that The Amazing Spider-Man 4 is confirmed to happen, it was presumed that the director would be back for the fourth installment. Apparently not.
Speaking to The Daily Beast, Webb revealed, “I’d like to be involved as a consultant and I’ve already talked to the guys about it, but in terms of directing it, that will close out my tenure. I’ve had so much fun doing it, but after the third movie, it’ll be the time to find something else.”
As well as a further two Spidey films, Sony have also confirmed that there will be two spin-off movies, The Sinister Six and Venom. Discussing the world that Sony is trying to create, Webb added, “We’re building out a more complicated Spider-Man universe with characters that people haven’t seen in other Spider-Man movies – The Sinister Six, Venom, and more. We’d all love to overlap with other studios, but it’s beyond my pay grade.”
Before any of that, though, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is released internationally on 16th April before a 2nd May US release. The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is scheduled for a 10th June, 2016 release, with The Amazing Spider-Man 4 pencilled in for a 4th May, 2018 release.
