With James Mangold having previously confirmed that he’s writing a third Wolverine movie, the director was recently asked on Twitter as to when we can expect to see the next Logan-centric film.
Mangold responded, “@20th Century Fox @ShuDonner We are figuring it all out. At the moment, I’m shooting the next #Wolverine after #XmenApocalypse.”
Despite Mangold himself having confirmed that he’ll be penning and directing a third Wolverine flick, star Hugh Jackman has been a little less committal in recent months. After playing the character for 15 years now, Jackman expressed concerns that he may be getting to old for the gig and that there will come a time when the character will need to be recast. When this will happen is not clear, although Wolverine will be appearing in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. There’s no current word on whether Wolvie will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse, but the details on that movie are very scarce right now.
With X-Men: Apocalypse is set for a 2016 release, so I wouldn’t expect to see a third Wolverine movie until around 2017.
