“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” Leading to “The Sinister Six”

With Sony having already confirmed The Amazing Spider-Man 3The Amazing Spider-Man 4The Sinister Six and Venom, fans have been wondering just what seeds the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will plant. Speaking to EW, Amy Pascal and Avi Arad have suggested that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will lay the foundations for The Sinister Six.

Sony’s co-chairman Pascal said, “At the tail end of this movie we set up some of the other characters that will probably end up being in the Sinister Six. We’re going on all fronts.”

The various trailers and images that have been released for ASM2 so far seemed to hint towards Vulture, Doctor Octopus and possibly Kraven the Hunter; all characters that have been members of the Sinister Six team.

Producer Arad added, “Villains can be very entertaining. It’s not like somebody’s born and they’re a villain. Something happens and it changes their lives. Some people can deal with it – they become the heroes. Some people can’t and hate the world because of what they felt was done to them – they become the villains.”

In case you missed the final trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, you can find it below:

The official line for the film reads:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a great conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realise that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is release globally on 2nd May, but lucky UK folks, like myself, get the film on 18th April.
