Adam McKay Turns Down “Ant-Man” Gig

Ant-Man Adam McKay

With Edgar Wright having split from Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man, the apparent front-runner was Adam McKay. Not only was McKay the front-runner, he was actually offered the job. It’s now been revealed that the Anchorman director has actually turned down Ant-Man.

To confirm the news, McKay himself took to Twitter to say, “And yes, met w/Marvel. Kirby & Lee r my Lennon Mccartney so it was awesome. But I have other projects I’m committed to. Not sure it can work.”

Now that McKay is seemingly out of the picture, it’ll be interesting to see who Marvel and Disney turn to. The other apparent contenders were Dodgeball‘s Rawson Marshall Thurber and Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer. Will either of those be Marvel’s next choice?

Regardless of who directs, the cast of Ant-Man currently comprises of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and unknown roles for Evangeline Lilly, Patrick Wilson and Corey Stoll. Set to kick-off Marvel’s Phase Three of films, Ant-Man is currently set for a 17th July, 2015 release.
