Despite a whole hat-full of names being added to J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII, rumours suggested the 12 Years a Slave‘s Oscar-winning Lupita Nyong’o was going to be added to the film (possibly as Asajj Ventress). Now comes confirmation that Nyong’o will indeed join Abrams’ movie, although her role is currently being kept unknown.
As well as the Oscar-winner, Game of Thrones‘ Gwendoline Christie is another new addition to the galaxy far, far away. Christie is best known for playing Brienne of Tarth in HBO’s Thrones. She will also be seen shortly in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
On the news, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy said, “I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII. It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”
The duo join Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max Von Sydow.
At present, Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for an 18th December, 2015 release.
