A sixth film in the Resident Evil franchise has been in development for a little while now, and now comes word on the movie’s title.
According to Collider, RE6 is currently titled Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Whether this title is still in place when the film is released, that remains to be seen. What does seem certain, though, is that this sixth movie in the series will be the last one.
Previously, director Paul W.S. Anderson revealed that 2010’s Resident Evil: Afterlife was the start of a new trilogy of films; a trilogy of films that continued with 2012’s Resident Evil: Retribution. Now it seems that The Final Chapter will indeed bring the series to a close.
In terms of where this sixth film is currently at, Anderson is writing the first draft of the script at this time. The writer/director’s wife, Milla Jovovich, will return as Alice, with a release expected at some point in 2015.
