Now this trailer first dropped towards the end of last week, but I’d been having a few issues trying to get a decent link. Well, that problem’s solved, although Leprechaun: Origins looks like it has a whole host of other problems going on…
Not great, no?
As a fan of the Leprechaun series, this film lost my interest when it was announced that WWE’s pint-size grappler Hornswoggle would be taking over the lead role made famous by Warwick Davis. Now we get to see the first footage from the film, and it really doesn’t look very good whatsoever.
This Leprechaun redo was initially aiming for a US cinema run, although last week also brought word that the film would be released purely on DVD and VOD. The premise of the film focuses on a group who go backpacking across Ireland. Before they know it, they end up in an old cabin at the edge of an ominous-looking woods. Of course, it doesn’t take long before the feisty Leprechaun to start tormenting them.
Directed by Zach Lipovsky, Leprechaun: Origins stars Dylan ‘Hornswoggle’ Postly, Grave Encounters 2‘s Stephanie Bennett, Alien Trespass‘ Andrew Dunbar, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days‘ Melissa Roxburgh, and Freddy vs Jason‘s Brendan Fletcher.
Expect to hear more as it becomes available in terms of the film’s release date, although I’d have been far happier if this latest Leprechaun film continued along the path of the likes of Leprechaun in Space and Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood.
