New “Batman V Superman” Shots Bring Major Spoilers

Now it’s been known that a statue of Superman will be erected in Metropolis by the time Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice rolls around. Here comes some set photos that lean heavily towards some major spoilers. You’ve been warned.

The images below (click on them for bigger version), taken from the Michigan movie blog The Banana Doc, seem to indicate the statue of Superman in tatters. In fact, you can even see civilians placing flowers at the scene, suggesting it’s some sort of memorial site for the Man of Steel. Could it be possible that Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman will feature some sort of play on the classic Death of Superman comic book arc?

Of course, the actual ‘real’ death of the Big, Blue Boy Scout is highly unlikely at this stage. Firstly, he’s Superman! Secondly, DC and The WB have a whole host of further movies planned, many of which that will feature Superman as a vital cog, such as Justice League and Man of Steel 2. Still, a Supes death-tease is still an interesting proposition. Could it be a case that those long-rumoured Doomsday rumours will come to fruition? Could it even be a case that the above scenes were being shot as part of Justice League? After all, that movie is going to be shooting back-to-back with Batman V Superman.

If this upcoming Bats/Supes movie wasn’t full enough with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and Aquaman, it appears that we’re going to be getting some sort of ‘Superman death’ subplot. Yeah, because there wasn’t enough going on already…

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently set for a 6th May, 2016 release.

    • That’s quite a good idea, dude. And yeah, as much as I loved Smallville, Doomsday did seem a bit munch. I enjoy it as a different take on the character, but Doomsday is one of the ultimate big-bads that needs the big screen treatment.

      • And more than just one movie I think. Kind of like Bane had the three books, and had been mentioned in previous comics as a shadowy figure that nobody knew of. Seeing Henry Cavill in that blue and white or the red? I think I may have to squeee, but it ain’t gonna happen….
