Yes, you read the title correctly – The Omen is getting remade yet again!
Despite Richard Donner’s 1976 horror classic getting remade in 2006, Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that yet another remake is now going into development. What’s the need? I really cannot answer that question. The original is a true, true icon of the horror genre. The Liev Schreiber-starring remake was bland, formulaic and uninspiring. Still, another remake really is scraping the barrel.
This news comes hot on the heels of Damien being announced, which is a TV series that will act as a continuation of the ’76 movie. Glen Mazzara, former showrunner for The Walking Dead, is developing that show. In terms of the second movie reboot, that will be produced by Platinum Dunes, the studio behind the remakes of Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Amityville Horror and The Hitcher.
