“Audition” Getting US Remake

For those who have seen it, Takashi Miike’s Audition is one creepy-ass film with a brutal conclusion. As is so often the case with decent Asian horrors, Deadline is reporting that a US remake of the film is in the pipeline.

This redo will be produced by The Terminator and Basic Instinct‘s Mario Kassar, whilst Richard Gray is apparently already working on a screenplay. No director or cast is in place at this stage. As for the plot, it’s said that the story will focus on a widower who is convinced by his filmmaker friend to hold auditions for a girlfriend. One such applicant is a ballerina with a murky past. For risk of spoilers, I’ll just leave it there…

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
