With Kevin Smith set to drop walrus horror Tusk onto audiences later this year, the writer/director has now seemingly confirmed a spin-off movie called Yoga Hosers. It’s presumed that the film will go into production after Smith’s Christmas terror Anti-Klaus, which he’ll be completing after Tusk.
Speaking to Screen Daily, Smith confirmed, “Like Tusk, it sprang out of a podcast. There are two characters in a convenience store in Tusk that you see for five minutes, very much Ronsencrantz and Guildenstern. I’ve built a whole movie around them and I have brought one of the other characters from Tusk back.”
The podcast in question is a February edition of Smith’s Smodcast show. It’s not known at this stage whether Yoga Hosers will follow the horror tones of Tusk or if it will be a completely different type of movie. As for Tusk, the film features Michael Parks as a man who lures Justin Long’s podcast interviewer into his home, then slowly turns him into a walrus. Haley Joel Osment and Genesis Rodriguez will also feature in the film that will be distributed through A24 later this year.
