With an image and character details recently emerging for Ultron, Joss Whedon’s has now been talking about what we can expect from Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Speaking to EW, Whedon said, “They’re on Team Ultron, which makes things really hard for the Avengers because they’re dealing with powers that they’re not used to. With the [first] Avengers, everybody pretty much had the power of being able to punch somebody, and now we have a woman who can get inside your head and move objects, and a boy that can move faster than anything, and a robot [Ultron] who can self-replicate and is out of his mind. So all of sudden, it’s a darker, weirder, tougher world that they’re living in.“
Quicksilver himself, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, added, “There’s a lot of clashing. [Quicksilver is] quick tempered. He gets agitated. He’s impatient. But he’s superprotective. In his power, he’s physical and [his sister Scarlet Witch is] psychological. My character is very much on the frontline, but he can be quite emotional. You see this beautiful tenderness between them.“
Whedon concluded by touching on Paul Bettany’s The Vision. Bettany, of course, has voiced JARVIS in the Iron Man movies. Apparently this was all be design, as the director teased, “It’s no coincidence. And I’m not going to tell you any more about The Vision.”
Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for a 24th April, 2015 UK release, with a global release following on 1st May, 2015.
