Sony Push Back “The Amazing Spider-Man 3”

Spider-Man Bar

Yep, told you so. As somebody that was left shattered (seriously) by The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it comes as no surprise that Sony are pushing The Amazing Spider-Man 3 back, choosing to instead focus their immediate attention on The Sinister Six spin-off.

ASM3 was initially scheduled for a 10th June, 2016 release, but that’s now been thrown all the way back to 2018. Instead, that 10th June date has been given to Uncharted. The plan for Sony and their latest Spider-Man series was to have The Amazing Spider-Man 3, then follow that with their two spin-off movies, Venom and The Sinister Six, then release The Amazing Spider-Man 4. It seems Spidey will be taking a back seat for now, with his rogues’ gallery taking centre-stage.

The Sinister Six, which will be written and directed by The Cabin in the Woods‘ Drew Goddard, is currently set for an 11th November, 2016 release.

    • Yeah, it seems like Sony have bottled it after ASM2 didn’t do as well as they’d hoped in terms of cash and response. Sadly, The Sinister Six doesn’t grab my attention, same as ASM3, which is something I never, ever thought I’d say. The only part of this franchise that does have my attention is Venom.

      • Yeah, I never thought I’d get to that stage with anything Spider-Man related, but ASM2 is likely the worst cinema experience I’ve ever heard. It wasn’t the worst film I’ve seen, just the sense of disappointment was massive.
