The Hollywood Reporter has word that Universal Pictures are near to an agreement with Alex Kurtzman (above) for him to direct their latest redo of the Mummy. Kurtzman is already on board to produce the project with Chris Morgan. This will be the first movie in Universal’s plans to bring together a shared universe between their classic monters.
The report goes on to claim that the film “is set in the present and is not a horror play but rather an action-adventure tentpole with horror elements. It was also feature new characters and not rehash previous incarnations.” Hmmm, doesn’t really grab my attention, in that case.
Also, the tentative release date for The Mummy has moved from 22nd April, 2016 to 24th June, 2016.
