Now I’m generally not a fan of remakes but last year’s Evil Dead, directed by Fede Alvarez, was a refreshing change in a world of redone, soulless and pointless redoes. From a $17 million budget, the film brought home $100 million across the globe, meaning a sequel was in the works. The apparent plan was for Alvarez to helm Evil Dead 2, Sam Raimi to direct Army of Darkness 2, and then the two worlds would crossover for a further film. Sadly, it appears that Evil Dead 2 is no, err, dead.
Speaking to JoBlo, Evil Dead star Jane Levy (above) said, “They’re always coming up with a new thing – now I hear they’re making a TV show. I was like, ‘What?’ It doesn’t seem like there’s going to be an Evil Dead 2 anytime soon. At least not with me in it.”
The show that Levy mentions is the newly announced Evil Dead series that Sam Raimi, brother Ivan Raimi, and Bruce Campbell will be developing. Whilst that seems to be moving forward, it looks as if Evil Dead 2 has stalled at best, been completely shelved at worst.
