I dug Sinister quite a bit, although it ultimately failed to live up to what I was hoping for. Not a bad film at all, though. Now comes some casting news and plot detail on the sequel.
First up, James Ransone will be reprising his role from Scott Derrickson’s movie, with The Rulesof Attraction‘s always awesome Shannyn Sossamon joining the party. Sossamon will be playing a mother in a creepy house. Sound familiar.
As for the plot, it reads:
In the aftermath of the shocking events of Sinister, a protective mother (Sossamon) and her 9-year-old twin sons (Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death.
Woah, woah, woah. There’s a kid called Dartanian? Awesome! As I’m typing this, I’ve got the annoying-yet-cool theme tune for Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds stuck in my head.
With Derrickson this time taking co-writing duties on the film, Sinister 2, directed by Citadel‘s Ciaron Foy, is set for a 21st August, 2015 release.
