With AMC having announced the The Walking Dead would be getting a spin-off companion series, TV Line is getting some details on the show. Their report claims that the new series “will be a prequel of sorts, one that would chronicle the early days of the epidemic and the effort to contain it.”
This is added to creator Robert Kirkman’s previous words to IGN, where he said, “It definitely won’t be set in Georgia. It’s important to us that this show exists on its own. The spin-off has to be a show worthy of existing, or else we’ve all sold out.”
It’ll be interesting to see just how far back this ‘prequel’ series will go. I can’t imagine it going right back to the source of the epidemic, but who knows.
Expect more on this as it develops.
Why not just devote more resources to making the original series more awesome?

They seem to be managing that just fine at the moment, so I’m all cool with a ‘sidekick’ show, so long as it doesn’t take away from the main series.

I dunno . . . maybe I’ve just been a zombie fan longer than the mainstream fans, but I’m starting to suffer a bit from zombie burnout.

It can get a bit repetitive having a weekly supply of ‘walkers’
